I’m making progress on the newest engine for the Skally, ILSX SW1500 #924. The detailing is about half done. I’m hoping I can get it in paint by mid-week.

It must be the weekend of the SW.  I'm working on several Conrail SW1500s and didn't think that there would be room to add the grab irons to the front of the cab. Are you using Trainworx 404 EMD drop-center grab irons?  I'll upload pictures of my progress once I figure out how to.
The fabric of reality has begun to fray.

Yes, thanks mu26aeh!  Actually it has been moved to the FAQs sub-forum, but that link should still work.

Yes, they are Trainworx grab irons. They look so much better than just bent wire.

Great looking switchers, guys! :o

In keeping with the switcher theme, I finished modifying the fuel tank for my 2nd SP SW1200....

I also decided to add the rather unique looking MU stands with overhead lights to both the unfinished and finished models. These were scratchbuilt from styrene and wire. The tube-like light housing on the undecorated model is a piece of wire insulation slipped over .008" wire, while the more bulb-like fixture on the decorated model is a drop of Krystal Klear....

I had actually considered using fiber optics instead of wire on the MU stands, with an LED under the deck for illumination, but decided against it for sanity reasons :P

Now what I need is some reasonably-sized chain to span between handrails over the drop steps. I have some 40-links-per-inch chain that I had planned on using (and looping over the little handrail end extensions I intentionally left there), but it is still a bit too bulky looking. Ideas?
