so the title of this topic should really be: "don't run a DCC decoder on PWM DC?" That is indeed a good thing to tell newcomers who purchase DCC equipped locos.

TCS may be unfairly "accused" here.

Well, do we even know that the CVP DC throttles use PWM?  That info was not mentioned here. Those throttles are obsolete and a quick Web search did not produce any meaningful results about how those throttles work.

The reason I was pushing to verify the brand of decoders was because while all DCC decoders have to adhere to the DCC standard, the actual implementation of how the DCC signal is handled by the hardware/firmware varies among manufacturers.

Yes, we do not know, and I also wish we were able to put a bow on this one.

Most likely though, it was pulse. I was unsuccessful in finding any information on his system.

But I'd be willing to put a few bucks on it in a gentleman's bet.

I was more focusing on not unfairly impugning TCS' reputation without a fair investigation.
