I recently picked up one of the new releases of the Fox Valley Models B&O wagontop cabooses.  In the early 70's the EL was running a pool train with the CNJ between E'Port and Scranton, ES99 and SE98.  The train had a mix of motive power and occasionally an oddball caboose.  This caboose B&O C2802 rolled through in June of 1972.  I disassembled, stripped and repainted the FVM caboose to match this one.  Its a small addition but one that needed to be done!

Although there's not much to see yet, I started work on two more SP switchers. One will be another SW1200 (#2282) and the other will be an SW9 (#2298). With all the kitbashing I've done, removing the cast, hood-mounted hand rails on this and my previous SW1200 has to be one of the most tedious things ever! Thankfully, they will remain on the SW9.



Wish I could find something that would work for the equipment/supplies door on the left side of the cab on the SW1200's, as can be seen here...

On my previous SW1200, I just went without but figure I can add something later. Also, as far as I can tell from a precious few pics of 2298, there's a different size and type of door on that unit...for which I may be able to find something that is close enough.

Yes, maybe not a classic wye, but you can still use it to turn around a locomotive. It obviously used to reconnect, as did a crossover on the left off of the double-slip. A fair amount of complicated trackage was evidently once there.

I think the motivation for the star-reversers was, yes, real estate, but not cost per se. Italy is quite mountainous, and I would surmise that they used these compact reversers to fit in the valleys with a minimum of grading or carving out of hills.

Bill, your passenger cars are always the best. Are you using tinted window material in the windows, and if so, what are you using? I've tried various products sprayed onto clear styrene but I'm having trouble getting consistent results...

Guess that a TT must be too expensive to buy in compared to many crossings and turnouts .

Highlight of my week has been uncrating all my PRR/HVRR modules just to do the Railwire Baggage Car shoot, and this is actually the first time I've done any shots at all with the actual HVRR equipment on it!

Thanks Geoff. I use a tinted plastic product that is no longer available and that I'm just about out of. I've had some success with spraying Alclad tints onto window glass of Kato domes and passenger cars. I set down to continue working on my second CF7 kit today.  I got a big hand in that our internet, TV, and phone went down for most of the day so I really had no distractions, except for my kids complaining about not having their devices working.  But being in the basement, I couldn't hear them, too much.  Needless to say, I got everything installed and secured, railings drilled and temporarily installed, and then outside for priming.  I have some spots I need to clean up, rid some glue spots but otherwise should be ready to paint tomorrow.





Second time around doing these steps, they went much quicker and turned out a lot nicer.

You may want to look at theater/film lighting filters, known in the trade as "gel".  Available in hundreds of colors, comes in 20x30 sheets.  Numerous blue tints- from midnight blue to almost clear- the lighter used for color correction in photography and film, when you need 6000 deg K light and have a 5000 deg K light source.
