Well, I'm messing with two very old Revell bakery structures, attempting to build a tall machine shop/view block, a background building for my "downtown L.A."  So far so good, I like the forms. Of course the windows are more like HO size, we'll see where this "exercise in creativity" goes

Cutting the roofs in halves then mix and match them. You can get a roof of only skylights, or two vent housings on one, etc. Or substitute Plastruct corrugated metal sheet for the old roofing, just glue it over the old roof after cutting out holes for the skylights, vents, etc. Cut all the end walls in half and make two upper-story ends of all windows (or one blank wall bay). You'll have two side walls of all windows for the rest of the 2nd story. If this building will be against a backdrop just use a plastic sheet for the back wall; you might be able to get a 3-story bldg. To make up for too many doors and not enough windows on the first floor make one doorway into a truck entrance.
Are these HO kits? There are several kits of this building (made by different companies) on eBay for a decent price if you want an N version. Plus working with kits to bash walls and stuff is way easier than sawing apart assembled buildings. Been there, did that. The assembled bldgs. I had were the worst kind- the building walls all cast as a single unit. Yikes.

Made some more progress on the background machine shop/view block building.
I've had these structures for close to forty years (!), they are not "kits" but one piece castings. Had to chop them up to create a new form to fit the layout space. The windows and skylights are way oversize, so I tried to de-emphasize/decontrast them with dark colors. The windows are okay, the skylights, not so much. Tbc....
