Big Boy, big problems?

I've just unpacked my Athearn Big Boy which has been in storage since 2009/2010 but it just doesn't want to run. Both on DCC and DC it happily makes the steam noises, and on the former I can control the lights but it won't move at all. Having trouble reprogramming it due to the decoder not playing nicely with into etc, but has anyone seen this issue before?

Yes. First thing I did was a factory reset, on DC with the remote. It behaved itself from then on out. Procedure is in the manual.

Thanks C855B, I was just about to do as you suggested, but just thought I'd give it another try on the DCC track. Somehow just trying to run it on DC must have done something to it as it started to run again! :)

Sorry up1950s it seems it wants to stay with me, maybe it thought it was worth more than that, so started to work again! :D

Spoke too soon, it started playing up again, so I did as you suggested C855B, and we're back in business - thanks again! :) (which means I'll be able to run it at the modular group meet this weekend)

For a moment, I thought this was a Crew Lounge post!

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."
