There's a coaling tower on the NS main, ex N&W, at Prichard, WV, literally across the road from where I work.
As for track around flood loaders, most of the newer ones tend to stay fairly clean, except directly under the loader. The operators are good at hitting the car, but more importantly, most of the cars today seem to be solid-bottom coal gons. No doors, so no coal leaking out, so the track stays cleaner. If your loader handles hoppers, especially older hoppers, where the doors don't seal tight, there will be a lot more coal on the ground.
