working on the "Two Guns" structure from Showcase Miniatures...I deviated from my normal OOB builds for T-TRAK modules by adding two guns to the portico roof (pot metal jewelry charms from Hobby Lobby)...
this structure will be part of a 'lonely desert crossroads' T-TRAK module...

I made a cut on a GP7 undec shell, so that means @randgust CF7 kit has begun.

I've used HO Farr grills for a lot of stuff, including floor grates in a grain elevator.  They used to be easy to find, but it seems that no one around here sells them now.

I'm finally back at the layout.  Some benchwork today to finish the canyon scene.  it felt good to be cutting wood and building something new.

Finished up a customer project this week, with a new twist.   I've always had the criticism on the Whitcomb kit that it doesn't have handrails with it.  I did that one before I learned to photoetch.   Just as an experiment, I tried the GE 70-ton etched brass handrails, footboards, and sills on it for a military version build, and I think they looked pretty darn good even if they weren't designed for it.   I'd already adapted the GE 70-ton etched steps and those have been standard.   Anyway, here's a shot of the '1944 builders photo' Whitcomb military cab clearance version.

Work continues on the 19,000 gallon tank as I wait for my other stuff from Shapeways.

Looking at the idea of two different frames. One with as much printed detail which will be over sized but much easier to build, and another that would take etched details for things like the walkway supports and the (not yet drawn brackets to hold the brake gear to the frame.

I haven't received any response to my inquiry about getting shots of the GN car at the IRM for the brake stand.  Going to have to reach out to a few other people.

Finally managed to do a bit of work on the layout after months of nothing. Started ballasting and basic scenery! Glad to finally be at my favorite part.

Trying to weather and body mount couplers on all my rolling stock, so cleared everything off the layout and it doesn't get back on until it's done. Here are two Atlas Trainman hoppers, weathered with body mounted couplers and FVM wheels. I lowered the load and changed it into gravel.

Also concurrently building the Showcase Miniatures 'Trading Post' (easy to see the familial resemblance of these nice little kits)
Here, I've just added the canopy/sunshade, and am waiting for it to completely dry before bending the lip to a more realistic drape...
Also, the base is just temporarily sitting in place...after the details are done, I'll clear flat coat the entire structure then add the glazing and glass brick...
