Looks like I'll be saving my nickels and dimes for the new full frame Nikon D850 body, which with 45.7Mp, will benefit me greatly for digitizing my art in one shot (no more stitching two photos together to get the resolution I need for my art prints)...AND, it's got a "focus stacking" feature that will take up to 300 exposures between two set focal points, to be combined in the focus stacking software of your choice.  That, with the high-res "tilty" screen will be ideal for my layout photography efforts, not to mention my model shoots as references for my artistic nude drawings!

Expensive at $3,299 for the body only, it's in keeping with its competition price wise, but blows them away in other non-model railroad photography related features, and since I already own a shirt-pot full o' Nikon lenses, that will cut down on the final price.

Don't hold your breathe for sample photos...it'll be a while before I get it...but...I might rent one just to see how good or bad it functions for what I need it for.

I'm not a big fan of in-camera focus stacking programming, especially with huge RAW files, so just doing the in-between focusing automatically will be ideal for me and my Helicon Focus Pro Unlimited software on my desktop.

Cheerio!

Does this somehow alter the meaning of "stacking"?

Haha...first off, it's not a "hobby"...it's what I do for a living, although it's certainly a lot of fun!

Here's an example of the finished art from a photo taken during a photo session:

Photo (1) - Tanesia:

Here's Tatiana...a model and friend from Vladivostok Russia...

Photo (2) - Tatiana:

Photo (3) - Valentine's card art for a line I never completed:

Photo (4) - Five minute quick sketch from live model:

Photo (5) - Karen...20 minute quick sketch from life:

Photo (6) - Got bored drawing cartoons one day and started making dots with my graphics pen:

Enjoy these in the short time they'll be up before somebody gets offended!  :)
