How much market research does Atlas really need?
Just look at their own HO (aka H0) and O product lines and see what hasn't yet been made in N.

I don't think that this has been mentioned, but N Scale Kits is currently working on PRR F22 and F23 "gun" flats.  Now I have to find N scale 14" guns.

Yes, I believe that is correct.

It would be kinda cool if the advantage of this car is that we also got the original 48' AP Husky down the line.

Whilst I am sad we don't have the Thrall 53' car yet from Atlas.... but at least the cut down car goes with their current container offerings.

I lobbied Scale Trains for an SD40-2, and they said it has not been ruled out.

They need to take a closer look at the way grab irons are on locomotives... their grabs stick out way to far and need to be addressed.  Even the turbines suffer from the same thing and it makes an other wise fine model look wrong... and that in a big way. The N scale crew members definitely don't need enough room to stick their durn heads through the grab. Address this and then maybe I would consider their models worth something...

I agree with your observations. That is one of the reasons I'm not a fan of factory-installed wire grab irons.

I also spoke to Shane about their couplers which seem to be a cross of the McHenry and Bachmann Boxing-Glove couplers.  He mentioned that they are redesigning their couplers (hopefully to something more in-scale).  But I did thank him for designing the Big Blow's coupler pockets to be more-or-less exact drop-in for the MTL couplers.

I also I gave Shane positive feedback for designing their GEVO trucks to be more like the current standard low-friction trucks (Kato, Alas, etc.).  But from I was able to see (without taking the trucks apart), they are not quite truly low-friction. They seem to be like the Athearn trucks: no electric pickup wheel-wipers (which is good), and instead of pointy axles they have axle ends riding in holes in the side-frame pickups/bearings. Not perfect, but much better than what they used in the Big Blows.

MTL single-window coach - Puddy must be smiling from where he is now!

The Atlas F-150 trucks are awesome!  The NE5 caboose and new coaches looked really good to my untrained eye.

Trainworx stuff keeps getting awesomer!

It was very reassuring to hear a solid confirmation that Walthers is *NOT* abandoning N scale! 

I missed seeing Carter F. from the N Scale Vehicles Assn. 

It was wicked cool to meet so many Railwirians in-person. The entire NSE convention was great - I had a blast!

It is really too bad that the semi-confirmed rumor I heard at the last Springfield show about Deluxe innovations is true. That sucks!

They did do it in HO, so could be, plus I'd want a few, and I'm sure these will be better than the Con-cor cars.

More Atlas loco speculation:  Given that they are doing 2 locos, I'm guessing more Alco switchers. Released is the S2.  I'm guessing a S1 and S3.
