Finescale American N layouts?

Maybe it is just me but I cannot find on Google any equivalent of the sort of layout you'd see on the 2mm Association's website in the UK, or locos or stock built to finescale standards, say FS160.  Is there such a thing as US finescale N? 

I see the wheels are available for it from NWSL ... certainly the loco and rolling stock shells are good enough for it ... has it just never taken off?  Or maybe I'm using the wrong search terms?

I belong to an N Scale club with handlaid code 40 track so we probably come close. I don't claim we are FS160 compliant but I don't think we are too far away, but we have never researched it to find out.

Many of us use the Fox Valley and BLMA version of fine scale wheels. I have ordered some NWSL wheels to see how they compare to Fox Valley and BLMA. I do not know how popular the NWSL wheels are but cost is a somewhat limiting factor. Four NWSL wheels are $20 and that is enough for one car. 100 Fox Valley wheels are $60 and that will do 25 cars. When you have hundreds of cars, as many N Scalers do, this becomes quite relevant.

I get the sense that the aesthetics with N are in favour of lots of wagons, so yeah - $20 to re-wheel one wagon sounds steep. 

Might be more feasible if someone modelled a small highly detailed switching layout with maybe ten or twenty highly detailed wagons.  (This is a very European or UK way of modelling though,  I suppose.)

I'm slowly working on a locomotive. Layout to follow eventually. But I keep getting distracted by 2mmFS and P4.

But I bought a lathe recently so now my excuse of not being able to get the right sized wheels has gone away. Just need to make them. I've made three, need ten in total.
