The Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington used to serve Yankee Rowe. The building and reactor looked similar, although it didn't have any cooling towers. It could make a cool section of a layout.

Hmmmm.   Get the kit, finish it, then bar all visitors from the layout room as an evacuation due to possible radioactive contamination.

Works for me.  Best 'layout isn't ready to have visitors' excuse ever.

One of our club N-Trak modules is built around this kit. It would be a lot more fun if the cooling tower was somewhere close to scale size. Must be 500:1, or even smaller.

Obviously AFTER that accident at Three Mile Island, because the model is NOT anything like that real plant.  It is just being marketed by trading on the name made famous by the accident.  It looks more like Peach Bottom Unit 1 or some of the earlier, smaller nuclear plants in the "first generation", with a natural-draft cooling tower added at a much smaller scale than 1:160.

And, if you try to model the exclusion area on your layout, this structure is all that you are going to need for a typical sized layout - the rest would be uninhabited land.

Also, I don't thing the Woodland Scenics has made a set of anti-nuclear protesters, yet.

Didn't Preiser once have a set of "protesters"?  Whatever they were protesting it wouldn't be hard to print new signs for them.

Trivia:  Radiation levels were higher in the Capitol room where the hearings were held after the accident than outside the plant itself.  The room is partly marble, which contains uranium.  They would have been safer meeting in the plant parking lot...

                 :|When that kit first came out I don't think it had the Three Mile Island name. Now I will have to dig my un built kit out of storage to find out. I was going to have it on a six foot N Track module showing a melt down and complete destruction of buildings near the plant and the further you went away the damage was less and finally near the other end of this straight module every thing would be normal. I do know that Heljin of Denmark made the kit and it always seemed to small to represent a real power plant as they take up much more real estate.  When I was a kid in the 1960's Revell had a model of a Atomic Power Plant that was highly detailed right down to building interior's and the same for the containment vessel. The size while large was smaller scale then N. They also did a space station to the same scale and level of detailing, the sides opened up so you could view the interior. I bought one of these, but never completely finished it but did complete the neat rocket ships (there were 2) that could dock with the station. Nate Goodman (Nato).

When I was a kid in the 1960's Revell had a model of a Atomic Power Plant that was highly detailed right down to building interior's and the same for the containment vessel. Nate Goodman (Nato). 

Relatively rare and rather expensive when an unassembled one is found on eBay, released in 1959, the Revell H-1550 Westinghouse Atomic
Power Plant is a splendid kit with a scale of 1/16 inch = 1 foot.

Despite its stated scale, with the kit's ladders and railings upgraded with etched brass N-Scale replacements and the (optional) addition of a Piko stock number 60016 or Con-Cor 690 (or 0002-000690) Cambria City Electric Substation kit, the Revell model is a much better stand-in for a 1:160 scale atomic power plant.
