That must have been QUITE the challenge for the folks working in assembly with all those windows in every which direction.

What is OH scale?

I read the title as  Kato, Ohio. I guess only Buckeyes can buy an Olympic Hiawatha.

Going by how the previous Kato models are constructed (both passenger cars and locos), the rear windows are probably a multi-window insert which simply snaps into place.

I could think of a couple of bawdy responses to that.

Cars are lovely. When they reissue in the later UP scheme, sign me up. Not that these particular cars ever made it west of Omaha (somebody please prove me wrong!), but it's nice to think it may have happened.

I'm pretty sure Missoula, MT is west of Omaha

And I know Tacoma ,WA is (but I couldn't find a photo in the UP scheme.

Of course, they didn't go through Omaha to get there...

Considering my cousin owned the real Coffee Creek (bought it from CN IIRC) I'm so in for one of these. You would have to assume that Kato would eventually release it in Armour Yellow, and possibly to do the different cars for the Twin cities Hiawatha, to pay for the tooling, A friends of the 261 train would be fun to run and crosses a pretty huge timeline too, not to mention it would be at home touring on almost any road running today doing fan trips.

Chris333:  I also thought it was supposed to be "Kato HO", until I saw the picture, and realized it was "Olympian Hiawatha".  No use to me, as the MILW had cancelled all of their western trains long before Amtrak, and I'm modeling 1974.  The Amtrak Empire Builder or North Coast Hiawatha could detour over my line, but neither of them ran MILW-painted cars.

If they had, by that time they would've been Armour Yellow.

The Milwaukee Road modelers should be very happy by now. First, Fox Valley Models made those excellent models, and now Kato! Wow.

I wish Kato would make the North Coast Limited. They already have one car for that train.

A North Coast Limited, Empire Builder (a proper one), Twin Cities Zephyr, and a Canadian would be on my Wish list from Kato.

Ryan: I'd buy the first two, and put in a good word for the others.  In fact, they could sell me 4 EBs, GN EB, GN BSB, BN/GN experimental green, and AMT.  For the NCL I'd take3: NP 2-tone green, BN, and AMT.  That way I could mix-and-match my Amtraks without repainting anything!

Javier:  True, any MILW cars in Amtrak service would have been yellow, but as far as I know, no MILW-lettered cars, in any paint, ran in the EB or NCH.

I wonder if it comes with an N scale Mr. Kato sitting in the rear of the observation car?
I'm sure I'll end up getting one.
