I'm guessing that the Daylight and the FEF (both one trick ponies) have taught Kato that they don't need to do engines that can be run for several roads (and having to guess which roads will be the popular ones) that the Dreyfus Hudson is viable...but not an engine that I would consider buying. Pretty, yes, but never showed its face in the west. I would, however, consider buying a ATSF 2-10-2 since I could possibly run it on my Southern Pacific. I would rather have something like that than another USRA locomotive.

Now if they would just ask what DIESELS I would like them to run (Baldwin AS-616 and it's variations)...

f this is really just a clandestine scheme to find out if there is enough interest in one particular engine (like the Hudson), then they have their answer.  There is almost equal interest in all of them, so they can make anything they want and it will be well received.

It would have been very useful if one of the engines had emerged as a far-and-away winner.   If they really want to market that Hudson, but the 2-10-2 (for example) had out-paced it by 3 to 1 in the voting, they might rethink what they are going to make.  But the voting doesn't show a preference.  Not really.

I could go for several 2-10-2s (not the USRA version) in preference to having to kitbash one out of a Mikado, and I know of at least one other a$$hat here on TRW that would be pleased. :)

Cheers!

I'm still trying to understand that last "slap in the face to N Scalers everywhere" question.  WTH is up with that?  Is that really how Kato feels about the N Scale contingent?

It might as well have read: "Should we even bother with this poll?"

Probably just an attempt to dissuade the inevitable e-mails from HO guys.

Is the HO answer winning?

Kato has made Japanese prototype 2-8-2 and 2-6-0 locos in HO scale.
Perhaps they're contemplating trying to reuse the basic mechanism as the basis for a US prototype model?

I found it amusing when Walthers was selling these in A-A sets for $200+

Those were the split frame, which were pricey.  Both the Es and the PAs split frame were pricey.   The plastic frames were much less expensive.

Chalk up another vote for a Kato EMD E7. And while we're at it, let's see if they'll do an E6 as well.

I would be very happy to see Kato do E7's.  I would buy several road names.  CBQ, UP, MR, SP, GN.  They need to do the GN Empire Builder with E7's.

I would be interested in any of the steam units.

Only few more days left and it appears that 2-10-2 is beating the Dreyfus Hudson. I would have rather seen Hudson being the top pick (along with the 20th Century Limited train set.  But properly proportioned 2-10-2 would be a good model too.

I've voted three times in the last 5 days and all for the Hudson and I am also surprised to see the 2-10-2 winning now. We really don't need another 2-10-2.

Just like you did, I'm sure there is ballot-stuffing going on in this poll. There are probably more ATSF fans/modelers than there are of NYC.

Oh , you weren't aware that the Kato programmers have it set up that before they do the final tabulation of the votes they expunge any multi votes ( including the original ) via IP addresses . I guess the Great Wall wasn't high enough .
