Oh , you weren't aware that the Kato programmers have it set up that before they do the final tabulation of the votes they expunge any multi votes ( including the original ) via IP addresses . I guess the Great Wall wasn't high enough .

From what I see, that is not needed. You can only vote once from a unique IP address.  Once you voted, the poll only allows you to view the results. Unless this is done via a cookie rather than the IP address?  I haven't checked the cookies.

Edit:  you're right - it was a cookie - now I could vote over and over again.   :D

It appears to be done with cookies, not IP address.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

LOL!

Once the kookie is deleted, the poll allows you to vote again from the same computer.  So like I said, I'm sure there is ballot stuffing going on.  But they might still use the IP addresses of the voters to delete multiple votes from the same IP address (so you could be right).

Another thing to consider, is I'm sure this poll is only part of the equation on what to produce, not the final definitive answer.

As we all know, we don't want to get all of our news off the internet.
I’m not here to argue

Until we see a Rock Island TA or some sort of North American trolley/tram, I assume these polls don't mean or do anything.

Well, that is true of course, but this is an "official" poll created by Kato USA (not by some schmuck on an online forum asking his forum buddies for input), so there is some credibility to the poll and also  some reason Kato created in the first place.   I wouldn't call it just another "internet news".  Hey, even if the poll was created just to gauge the general interest on N scale steam locos (vs. diesels and passenger train sets) then it still is a good indication that Kato is testing the waters.

The poll was supposed to be closed on June 16.  If that is true, we have an interesting outcome.

I am going to guess that a Big Boy and Challenger will not be done by Kato, it doesn't make much sense for them to make them. They already have a Mikado so I am guessing that won't happen either. That leaves us with a Santa Fe, Pacific, Mountain and Hudson, all with pretty much the same percentage of the vote. The generic steam engines are already done in one form or another with varying degrees of success. The Hudson is a very specific model of one style of engine.

My money is on the Dreyfuss Hudson and a passenger train to go with it, that is what Kato does lately. That is what I think is coming.

Well, I wasn't thinking about models with lower vote percentages.  It was interesting that both the Dreyfus Hudson and 2-10-2 ended up with the same vote percentages.  I also hope that the Hudson (and the matching 20th Century Ltd. passenger train) get produced.

Would that be a heavy 2-10-2 or a light 2-10-2?

Seriously, it would make a big difference in driver diameter, which would affect what it can be kitbashed into.  I know I'm one of the .01% of Kato's customers who are thinking that way.  Most just want to buy an engine and run it.    For Kato, the best business decision is probably the Dreyfuss Hudson.

It better be a Santa Fe 2-10-2. Lord that would save me COUNTLESS hours of kitbashing for my santa fe and UP 2-10-2 fleets!

A Santa Fe is a 2-10-2 just like a Mikado is a 2-8-2.

Didn't someone already make a new frame and etched siderods to make that loco from Kato Mikados?
