This conversation about RBL had me wondering, are you guys referring to rebills? And if so, any idea how common an occurrence of that would have been?

You sure are drawing out the releases for us late Conrail modelers.

You may want to consider "rolling your own".  My favorite Conrail X58 schemes are late 76 and early 77 Hollidaysburg repaints and 77-79 Meadville repaints.  These have not shown up yet, so I am stripping and repainting / decalling cars myself.  I have two done and four more to go .  Not fun, but gratifying to have my favorite paint schemes represented.  Thanks.

All four of our standard Conrail X58 cars released to date remain in stock.  The patch-outs appear to do better so we're going to stick with them for a while.

That listing is confusing in places. Classification dates overlap, some class drop off for years then reappear, and some are open ended, meaning they're either current or data is missing. And then there are instances, like in the MOW section, where data seems to just be missing.

Can somebody please tell me the main differences between X58 and X62? Were they manufactured by the same company?

I had to buy the CB&Q X58 models because they were awesome, so I will buy the NYC model (same timeframe).

BTW, the NYC model was serviced in March 1968. The Penn Central had benn formed on February 1st, 1968. Why didn't they paint over the NYC logo and replace it with the mating worms?

Here are a few things about both cars.

X58:
Assembled by PRR's Hollidaysburg Car Shop with components supplied by outside suppliers at Hollidaysburg, PA.
9 side panels on left and right side of door.
YSD plug door.
4/3/1 Dreadnaught ends.
Diagonal panel roof.
Built in XM, XL and RBL varieties for PRR.
Built in XL and RBL for LV.
Keystone and Hydra Cushion underframes used.

X65 (also NYC class 976B and PLE class 975B):
Assembled by PC at the Despatch Shops with in-house procured components at Each Rochester, NY.
8 side panels on left and right side of door.
Primarily YSD plug door, but also Landis plug door on some cars.
5/3/1 Despatch Shop ends.
Despatch Shops roof.
Built in XL configuration for NYC, PLE and PC.
Built in XL and RBL varieties for LV.
Keystone cushion underframes used.

Keep in mind that each car Bryan produces is based off an actual car photo.  The PRR and NYC had many scales spread out across their systems.  The place where the NYC car was reweighed may not have been equipped to paint out and renumber the car at that time.  Also, the master renumbering plan may not have been available that early in the merger.  I hope this helps.  Thanks.

Do the Keystone and Hydra Cushion underframes look different?

The keystone underframes have a spring that sits horizontally in the middle of the car.  You cannot see it from the side.  The hydra cushion underframe has a piston that is in the middle of the car.  It hangs vertically, so you can see it very easily below the side of the car.  Thanks.

That looks like a typo, and should be March 1966.  NYC 78700 was done off the builder's photos.  The artwork was done last year and will be reviewed prior to final submission in July.
The P&LE car has a service date of September 1967.  The prototype as-built in 1965 had high ladders and roofwalk.  The model reflects the prototype after roofwalk removal.

EDIT — I just reviewed the builder's photos.  The shop date should be April 1966 and will be corrected prior to artwork submission.

I know they'd all be "safe", but what would be most common?

Also, those paint out X58s still coming?

P&LE independent scheme definitely fits 1985.  The Lehigh Valley cars for early 1970s.

The X58s are still coming, just waiting for more demand.  The CR ex-LV patch-out is a favorite of mine, so it will get done at some point.  Probably this time next year and piggybacked with X65s and X72s.
