This past weekend, from May 5 - 7, the Railway Modellers of British Columbia (RRMBC) held their meet at the Simon Fraser University campus in Vancouver, BC.
I saw some excellent layouts (Mark Dance's and Gary Hinshaw's), and the model display room was stocked with a truly beautiful assortment of great work. I have completely lost track of who built what in that room and I apologize for that. My wife and I attended the meet and we had a rather hectic journey getting up there from Portland via Amtrak in the middle of a very active mudslide season.
I did a clinic on N Scale steam scratchbuilding, and I want to take this opportunity to say "Thank You" to Mark and the RRMBC for inviting me, and also to all the attendees who made it fun and exciting for me to do this. They were a gracious, patient, engaged audience who were enthusiastic with their questions and their suggestions.
To anyone who missed this, I heartily recommend it. It is 3 days of wonderful clinics, layout tours, and a display of excellent modeling, and the RRMBC members will make you feel at home. Vancouver BC is a beautiful city, so you can easily bring your spouse or family and make a vacation out of it.
From Cari and myself: THANK YOU. Looking forward to next year!
