N Scale Supply Non-responsive?
« on: May 01, 2017, 11:30:40 AM »

Without the risk of blowing things out of proportion, I wanted to see if anyone has successfully placed an order with N Scale Supply recently.

I placed an order on April 18th and received a confirmation email. However it's been two weeks and they haven't charged my card or shipped the order. I've sent a couple emails to the email address on their website but received no response.

Are they on vacation? Are they slow to process orders? I just want to make sure my order has not fallen into the abyss.

No, Steve and Scott are always on the ball. If you had more than a couple of items and one or more was not on their shelves, they will hold your order for distributor restock to arrive. They usually let you know about this in the confirmation, so you might want to check that again. They do not charge your card until the order is complete and shipped.

They are also good about responding to e-mail. Reply to the confirmation if you are still in doubt, and you should get a response by the end of the day.

I have had similar experiences in the past with them. My experiences were due to N Scale Supply needing to get more stock from their distributors. This happened to me even on items that were newly listed on the web site. I did eventually did get the items I had ordered but took longer than expected.

I've never had a problem with them.  As stated above, they will hold a shipment at times if they are waiting for something from a distributer, however, they have always emailed me to let me know this was going to happen.

N Scale supply, do not publish a phone number on their website.  I all so know that they used to, and probably still do, use services to direct VM and faxes to their email.

I don't know whether this will help, but their image of their Gift Certificate contains a phone number.

I also found another number here:

Thanks for all the replies. My emails have thus far gone unanswered. But I hope that they are just waiting to get restocked. As I ordered brand new stuff. I wish they would just tell me that though.
I didn't find a phone number, and assumed that calling would not put me in their good graces. If they don't want to be called, calling them might not be the best idea.

I googled N scale supply and found a (303) phone number in about 2 seconds from 2 different sources - same number...

If you've been waiting 2 weeks for your stuff without any response.. I wouldn't worry about what they want or don't want...

You want your stuff.. or some kind of an explanation.. so just call them..

Worse they can do is be rude / yell at you.. in which case.. take your business else ware.

A counter example - a couple of weeks I was browsing their web site and noticed that they listed the old Model Power mikado traction drivers.   I want a couple  - but was suspicious that they might not really have them so many years after everyone else sold out.  So I sent a quick e-mail to the address listed on the web site, and got a response within a day.  Alas, they were sold out same as everyone else (and they updated the site to reflect this).

I have had several orders evaporate there. Not sure what the deal is. I like their website for reference but order from others.

I used to buy from them; liked the website.

But after realizing they apparently stock very little - they take your order and then order it from their distributor - I looked elsewhere.  I dislike waiting also.

I don't want to defame them but it would appear they are not very good business people - in my opinion.

There are many fish in our sea.  I deal with fish who have product at a reasonable price and ship fairly promptly from stock.

I saw a couple things on the preowned page and checked out. I had the tracking # the next day and in my hands in less than a week. I've ordered about a dozen times in 15 years and always received them quickly.

I would just like to point out to Peteski and others that I was not the guy who started this thread.  :-X
