Nice looking units there DFF; I’m hoping to eventually snag myself one of the Pee Dee River units at some point. I agree with you on the Scale Sound Systems speaker, I put one in on my sound install on my Athearn GP50 and it’s noticeable even when compared to the midsize speaker I’ve been using previously. So much more definition of the sound with the enclosure design.
Good to see you posting again Dave! Looking forward to more updates!
Thanks, @packers#1! I like those Pee Dee River GP16s, too, Sawyer, and I even considered one to run on the A&R. But, that’d be overkill, considering that I already have three GP16s, decorated for the SCL, SBD, and ACWR.
Foxxy, that scene does take me straight back to North Carolina in the springtime!
FWIW the A&R owns the Pee Dee River so they would just be taking it out for a run after inspection/maintenance to ensure it works properly but yes, three may in fact be enough!
Thanks, @Dave V! Mark my words, it may have to wait for retirement, but I will move back to Carolina some day. I love the area north and west of Winston-Salem, e.g., up towards Pilot Mountain and Mt. Airy and out towards Boone. Did someone say Yadkin Valley RR? Flashback! The last time I was in Rural Hall in the early- to mid-1990s, there was a handful of ex-N&W GP7s or GP9s tied down. Good times.DFF
I'll have to upgrade the speaker in my YorkRail unit, can barely hear it compared to others right next to it
Raleigh's on our Top 5 After Colorado list for sure! Tim's #2 choice behind Penn State for college was NC State. Maybe his old man had somethin' to do with that...
Ooh, there’s some nice areas around Raleigh. NC State or UNC (Chapel Hill) are cool. Just say no to Duke. DFF
PUKE. Of course. Though I have strong and unwarranted opinions about the Tarheels having been arbitrarily assigned to NC State by the Air Force, LOL.
