So did they kill the "followed-by two rolling stock announcements in late May" or did I miss those?

Mark
I was just wondering the same thing.  Still holding out hope they will someday model a prototype in my time frame.

Click on the link on page 4. #53 explains their rational. But they indeed have delayed the announcements.

Thanks RSW  :D

So we don't have to keep digging it up:

While we focus on growing our N Scale Carbon Black preorders, we’ve decided to delay the next two rolling stock announcements we planned to unveil this month.   We will still be making our first N Scale diesel locomotive announcement at the National N Scale Convention in Pittsburgh this June.

I've been trying to find a way to get some of these on my roster.

My layout is 1975, so the S-T 5750 is too new. But I see that Sid Richardson also got 5750s from Thrall in 1971 and 1975.

The 1975 Cars are reasonably similar at a glance:

Ordered - will renumber :D

NOTE TO NORFOLK SOUTHERN modelers - these are/were common in Southwest Virginia.

Can these be backdated to a 1940's version?  The side ribs would need to be reworked, what else?

I was thinking the same thing! I was watching LaPlata last week and I saw some on the head end of a manifest. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them in person, but I sure did see them there.

I have also noticed them on La Plata cam. And if it hadn't been for the announcement, I would have had no idea that those were carbon black cars! I know Goodyear used to have a tire plant in Topeka, but don't know if it is still operational.

A quick google shows Goodyear  still has a plant - and is expanding it.  Looks like it makes truck and earthmoving equipment tires,,,,

Yes, such large Tires are often shipped in .... Open top containers ! - these exporting from Savannah (Georgia, USA) to the Australian port city of Freemantle via Antwerp.

In other news the carbon black cars were pushed back to January.
