Agreed, you might be able to shave the cast-on details off the NP4 plow to get what you want.

West Ridge Railway plow P-1, an old metal casting on a scratchbuilt styrene (etc) flat.  On the prototype the box would probably be full of concrete and scrap metal.  On the model, it hides a stick-on lead weight.  Either way, push plows need to be heavy, to stay on the rails while plowing drifts.





Yes, the side view is out of focus.  My camera does NOT like to take closeups indoors, with or without the flash.  And, the layout wasn't designed for taking pictures, so it's hard to get very far away.

@CBQ Fan , that would be a fairly easy CAD model for Shapeways, easy to sand and assemble as a small kit, I could even make the box under it hollow to accept some added weight for the car.  If you could give me the dimensions from the rail to the deck of the flat you intend to use, I could design one and make it available fairly quickly.

Your call if you want rivets or would like to use Archer (easier to clean up the FXD without them.

I appreciate the offer.  If I was going to do one it would have to look like the links I posted on page one since that is a CB&Q prototype. The one nkalanaga did looks great but would not work on my layout.

Well that is the one I was thinking of doing for you, as close to that design as I can approximate visually.  Just need the height of the flat you want to use.

Yep, that would be it.  I see what you mean about box now.  I was thinking you were referring to box on the nation guage model. Let me take a look at flats and see what I have in stock that I can sacrifice.   Thanks!

Are you sure about that 5/8 dimension? Looking in CAD a 33" wheel has LOTS of space between the deck and the top of the wheel.  The 9.53mm dimension is 3/8" and the 15.88mm dimension is 5/8":

I think I can design everything but the turnbuckle here and some of the rod bracing, I think you will have to fabricate the turnbuckle with wire and a small brakewheel?:

Perhaps you missed the PDF that I posted with drawings of a very similar plow earlier in the thread. That might be helpful if you want to pursue a 3D option for the blade. Not sure how it compares to the exact prototype being discussed here but it looks very similar to my eye.
