I believe these are cars modified to carry windmill blades.

Mark

That's correct. Don't be fooled by the 'Trailer Train' wording.

Nope.  No interest whatsoever on the MTL April releases.  However, I am working on a dozen U.P. Railway Express cars offered as prototypically correct kits by Fine N Scale. Mine will be painted the Armour Yellow Streamliner scheme.

Next will be some Fine N Scale eastern roads' boxcars, which seem to be quite prevalent in photos and movies taken of U.P. trains in the late 40's and middle 50's.  Of course, MTL doesn't, and most probably will never offer these models for sale, especially with the warped steel sheathing detail feature.

MTL for me, for the last decade or so, has become decidedly second rate as far as most of their rolling stock is concerned.

Cheerio!

But like the PRR box car thread, a better picture will show up eventually and we can address it then.

Well that didn't take very long.

Morning Sun Color Refrigerator Car Guide page 95,  REX #7769 very clearly riveted.

I never realized how close these REA cars are to some 50' meat reefers.  Certainly closer prototype-wise than the Athearn cars.

I picked up the white one last week, and said I would pick up the Procor if it was still on the counter the next time I went.  Well, I ended up going today because I need brick sheet.

I came home with the Procor car

MT goes to many extremes. The worst car they ever did in my opinion was the Evans covered hopper. End railings that look like something from the 1970's and the roof walk cast into the roof. At the other extreme is their new well car, that car rides right next to the rail where it should and it is heavy to boot. Absolutely a terrific car and brings hope that they will continue the same way.
