Well, I got them today, thanks to a pointer by fellow TRW member @Point353. Got the last set :D
Not crazy about the wide wheels, on a little car like this they look fat, and the new release is actually slightly lighter (24g vs.28g) but that's probably fine for a 36' car. The lettering is very nicely done.

So, I contacted Intermountain, complimented them on the new tank cars, and inquired about the possibility of acquiring the beautiful new wire handrails that come on their new tank car releases to retrofit my old cars. The good news is they are available. The not so good news is that they are available at five bucks a pop. Ouch. I'm told that's what their Chinese manufacturer charges them :o
I did order a few to test them out on old cars with broken handrails, like the one below.
We'll see if that's money well spent.

It looks like Intermountain is doing a quick rerun of the 8,000 gal UTLX tank cars. Due Oct-Nov
