2017 Micro Trains Product Guide

Good Morning,

I haven't seen this pop up on this board yet, but the 2017 product guide has been released.

https://www.micro-trains.com/publicfiles/monthly/MTLPG2017.pdf

One thing of interest is the new 50' boxcar on page 3.  Can anyone figure out which boxcar design this would be? I like that they're going to be boxcars that were modified due to the changes that roof walks needed to be removed.  This would also be of interest because I don't know if I have the patience to remove roof walks from Trainman box cars

Thanks,
Adam

On the new 50' boxcars:

 ". These cars will
have  correct  ride  height,  photo-etched  brake  platforms,
body   mounted   Magne-Matic   couplers   and   exacting
surface details."

That's great news if they are indeed retooled/modified to ride at the correct height! And the body mounted couplers are also a plus!

It's a revamp of the current 50' PS1 boxcar line.

So I wonder what 'ride height' will be correct, the sill or the roof line.  It can't be both.

They're supposed to be coming to the RMTTS next month, hopefully I'll get there.

The main focus of page 3 should be the singlewindowedness  :D

I compared my Athearn former MDC cars to the MTL PS-1 plug door, combination door and sliding door boxcars and they are pretty much the same dimension wise the main difference is the MTL cars are representing cars with a different type sill. The once that are compressed are the exterior post cars I compared those to the FVM boxcars and those MTL cars are definitely shorter.

Should have had its own page.  Wish they would be more specific on when it was coming out, as the railroad will need to float its biggest bond issue since the announcement of the Kato F3 modernized ATSF version.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

If your having difficulties seeing the difference in height on the sides, then use the ends of the car to compare.  It shows clearly how the spacing of the end corrugations is stretched vertically for the added height and that the corner posts are taller.
