What's up with Chuck?  His web site has been down for a couple of weeks. Anybody know what is the status of this great shop?

Peteski:  Judging by your signature, it's probably "snarkness".

Tom:  Basically, the company that hosted his store tried to update the software, and in the process lost both the site and the backups.  He's trying to rebuild the site, according to his last post, but you can still call him.  Whether his email works is an open question.  He sent me one message, asking if I received it, but I haven't heard anything since, including whether he received my reply.

I mailed him a letter Monday, from eastern Kentucky, but haven't received a reply.  I don't expect one before next Monday, given the usual transit times for mail.

So I went to the Crew Lounge and read that Chuck's business is okay the problem is with web hosting.  Not sure why the answer was in the Crew Lounge and not out where all could see, especially since the news is good.

Because that's where the original post was put.   It wasn't specifically "N scale modeling", so I put it in the Crew Lounge.  The moderators are welcome to move it if they wish.

I'm open to suggestions on how to handle "generic non-scale specific, non-product news".

Some sort of "Industry News"?

I guess, but so much of that is like products. Maybe rename "Product Discussion" to "Product and Industry News"?

"HO and larger scales and Industry News"

But seriously, I wouldn't want the product stuff to get mixed in with what's going on the Chuck's website.

That's why I chose "Crew Lounge", for good or ill.  My question wasn't about a "product", it wasn't scale-specific, and, with no firm data to post, it was basically gossip, until Chuck posted his report.  It probably wasn't even of interest to anyone who wasn't one of his customers or friends.

Since there seems to be a lot of industry news posted here, a section for it might not be a bad idea, but that's up to you.
