Looks "weathered" but not "dirty". I agree, hit it with more coal dust. Not from the processing, but the dumping.

Chris, try to dial down the exposure a little on the camera.  Start off at -0.7 and vary it for best effect.  Making the shot a little dimmer will show the work you did.

Take it out of Auto mode and adjust the exposure yourself.   :)

Hard to find color shots of wooden tipples in operation . Note the clean church in this shot .

I've decided to take advantage of some unused vertical space to add another hidden staging/storage track and a longer switch lead for the Ono Army Quartermaster Depot, all under my paint shop. A bit tight to get to, so I made the right side of the workbench removable. I've yet to cut a hole in the wall to vent the booth to the outside.
Progress is being made...

Paint the inside of the mine black?  After all, it IS a hole in a coal seam, so the walls, at least are coal, and the floor is covered with coal dust.  The roof may not be solid black, depending on the type of rock, and on how much dust has settled on it.  No soot, as no combustion engines inside, so if it's a light colored rock, and the coal separates cleanly, it may not be that dark, at least at the entrance.  It will be dark a little ways inside...

If the magnet is a long flat part with lengthwise poles then why are 2 needed?  The MTL between-tracks magnet or the larger Kadee under-track magnet are all single pieces with the magnet centered under the track.

EDIT: never mind - I recalled discussing this subject here in the past and I found the explanation in this thread: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=34638

K&J makes various rectangular shaped magnets with the poles in various orientations.  Having the magnets on either side of the ties allows for installation (or removal) without disturbing the track.
