You have any basis for that statement?  NP cars went everywhere B&O cars went.  Railroads didn't care how iconic a car was.

4000 NP radial roof boxcars > 2000 B&O M53 + 1000 B&O M53a

Can't argue with numbers (if they are real). FVM did well with he M53's; Rapido, are you listening?

By the numbers, the NP car would be more likely to appear on a random railroad, but to most railfans, the B&O Wagontop car would be much more noticeable, just like the MILW horizontal ribbed cars.  It isn't the number of them, but that they're visually distinctive.  Unless one notices the round roof, the NP car is just another pre-WW II double-sheathed boxcar.

Only major issue is to compare the price points between fvm freight cars vs Rapido. At least two to one.

FVM does have a great (high) quality to (low) price ratio.  Which no doubt does influence the popularity of their B&O and Milw cars.  Kato is that way with their passenger cars (consider that an El Capitan diner costs less than a Bachmann baggage car).  But one assumes it would be more likely for Rapido to produce the NP car, since they are doing it in HO.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

I would find it odd, although very happy, for fvm to release any NP specific prototype.

So is there a similar car that we can just swap out the roof on?

Ears perked up!

First, is the roof a separate removable part on Rapido cars?
Second, would they sell the roofs as separate parts?
If so, I suddenly got very interested in this idea!

Lol. No, I was looking to just make these cars myself. Like wack to roof off an existing car and put on a round roof.

Atlas makes a radial roof 1932 ARA boxcar.

I still want to do the Erie wood-sheathed radial roof boxcar.

That Atlas car is steel, however, not wood sheathed.  Is the roof removable on that car?  Is it even the correct
kind of "radial roof" for an NP car?

Chris, yes, I understood what you meant.  That's why I posed those questions.  I was wondering if we would be able to buy the roofs as separate parts and put them on some other wood-sheathed car.

I really doubt that the Rapido roof, if they decide to release them in N Scale, will be molded separately.
Molding the roof of N Scale box cars separate is pretty unique.  Typically it's only done when the model is of a prototype that may have had more than the one roof option.
I would be surprised if the HO model had a separate roof.

I really doubt that even if they did the car in N, and it was a separate part, that it would be available to buy separately.  :P

Well, If Rapido decides to rescale and produce these in N scale, I'm in for a few, thats for sure!
