Finished the second deluxe diner today.  I had to replace the light board which I fried somehow while adding the potentiometer.  The subdued light is exactly the look I was seeking, with enough illumination to highlight the interior detail rather than lighting up the countryside, and is a subtle difference over having the lights off.  These are done.  Focus will return to the EP-3 after I host the McGrattan Memorial train sometime next month.

Kato corrugated passenger car detail parts.  Either the diner parts or observation parts, it is included with both.

This week has been adventures in photography for me.  A few weeks ago I found a roll of vinyl canvas for a dirt cheap price so I turned a few feet of it into a backdrop.  The paint's still wet in the photo, and it's purposefully very blue.  I tried to go for a "Pennsylvania October afternoon" look.

I also dragged this out of the closet and did some touch up work to it.  It's just a foam sheet painted flat black to simulate a yard in pre EPA days.  I built it large so I could take "railfan" shots with it.

Next, I tried out some proof of concept photos.  I don't have a good digital camera so I borrowed one.  My cell pictures turned out better, if slightly grainier due to camera shake.

I lighted the backdrop with a 60W bulb.  It turned out well, but I'll need more to make it look more even.

I slightly desaturated this photo.

In the future, I plan on making some hills for the background.  I also need a good camera.  I'll probably start another thread on that sometime soon.

Finished the VIA Rail F40PH2D tonight.

And with the lighting package, including the third HID head light.

Edit: aaaaaaand the number board decal is peeling. What is it with me and number boards?

Craig that looks great, especially with the Xenon high intensity headlight!

Also got some pipe bridge and supports from @Erik aka Ngineer painted and installed today.  These are just set in the ground and are removable since I have to feed the piping into the bridge grid work.
