The yellow cars were in general service, AFAIK.

When did these cars start entering service?  I know that a BAR boxcar went to the paper plant about an hour and a half drive from my home in western N.C. but don't remember the date... may be outside my era but want to be sure...

The yellow and remaining brown cars (block and script) were still in revenue service well into the 1980's (even into 1990 in a limited scope)
They were mostly captive to high priority perishable service. Often on CP's transcon intermodal trains.

Can't find much evidence of them wandering into the States regularly, but they did. a block of BC apples or Manitoba Potatoes headed south...

In this batch, the BAR SoM is Magor-built 1950, while the NH SoM is PC&F-built 1953.

@bbussey If these early yellow cars are eventually made keep in mind that the Multimark is at the B end on both sides of the car vs. the later versions where it is always to the left no matter the side... 
CP changed this by 1970 to avoid painting the Multimark on the tall ladder... To add to the complication there is some crossover between the black trim and the different placement of the Multimark so photos will be key.

Have no worries considering how closely you reproduce specific prototypes, but a little anomaly to keep an eye for...
