So there is a chance that you could fill in windows and create a Rapids series car? Sorry fellas I'm not a Milw historian and they were gone before I was born but I've always like their colors and unique cars.

Creek (the one Kato will do) has fewer windows on the left side.
It is a bedroom car.

I saw that earlier today.  My eyebrows raised when he said that car (Cedar Rapids) was used between Chicago and Tacoma.

Mr Kato's video was a bit disappointing.
He refers to the Rapids car on the Olympian Hi.

Hope that was a mis-spoken.

Hope they do the Creek series instead.

Since it appears that Mr Kato mis-spoke, and they will do the proper Creek car....

It occurs to me that your Rapids shell will still be desirable for the mid-west modellers.

Also, the other castings I have seen of yours have ribs on the roof- which is the earlier Hiawatha cars.

So I suspect Kato will make the later cars-- which makes your cars still needed.

If we're still dreaming, I want an EP-1A.  Those were the postwar boxcab passenger motors, two pairs, and they did pull the Olympian Hiawatha until diesels took over in 1959.  After that they went back to freight service, still with the passenger-styled cabs on the A end.

Since the other unit looked like a standard boxcab, that would also give Kato the tooling for an EF-1, as well as the three and four unit sets with all cab units.

From a modeling standpoint, they'd probably be easier to design, mechanically, than a Little Joe, and could take sharper curves, while still looking good.

Ribs on the roof indicate Milwaukee Shops built cars from 1947-48, such as the "Rapids" series Skytops used on the Twin Cities Hiawatha. Previous Shop built cars (those built for the '35,'37,'39 and '42 Hiawathas)  had smooth roofs. When I can get my hands on the new Kato model, I'll check and see if I can use the skytop lounge section of their car to build a better master for casting a new "Rapids" car .

Most of the Kato cars will have ribbed roofs since the Olympian cars were built by Milwaukee in '47-48. The exceptions will be the Pullman Standard built cars such as the "Lake" sleepers ("River" series too if Kato does them) and of course the "Creek" skytops.

I only hope that someday I'll get a proper 1947-48 Twin Cities Hiawatha but I'm thankful for the Kato Olympian even though I have a brass set by Railway Classics.

I'm kinda interested in this train ... 

I skimmed through this thread and did not see much info on this train, so I apologize if this was covered - what is the history on this train?

How long did this set run in these (per Kato, post 1952) colors? I understand that initially the train was pulled by FM diesels. When did the FP7s some on? A friend of mine said sometimes the FP7s ran with E8B units.

At some point the set was painted in UP colors? (1955? 1957?).

The Wiki says this train ran its last run in 1961.

They introduced the new train around the 1948 Chicago Railroad Fair. 
So that gives you a span of years.
