Made some more progress on the ferry slip module after taking the much of the spring & summer off (the day job gets in the way)

Finally got the plywood mounted to the module frame:

Doing tedious stuff this weekend on the CSX Hanover Sub.  Picked apart a box of SuperTrees to get ready for painting and leafing.  (Another topic, what does anyone do, if anything, with the scrap, broken pieces, box on right)

Use the left over broken pieces of Super Trees by super glueing some of the small trunks together and use them for low growing shrubs.
Using a different color spray for the trunks along with different leaf material will make them look very nice.

Making progress on my river crossing. Phase one is complete. Bridges and trestle are set. First application of ground cover is done. Next- boulders, dead trees and other debris.

Yesterday I got to operate on Doug Geiger's amazing HO scale Granite Mountain Railway.  First time I've ever operated on a layout that was designed for real ops.  Took several trains over the road between Chicago and Portland.  Doug's steel mill complex is under construction, and is quite impressive even at this stage.  Thanks to Doug, Steve, and the rest of the crew for putting up with this rookie.

@fcnrwy23 -- I have Woodland Scenics track cleaning system. It has a wand that attaches to the cleaning pad. Makes getting into the bridges very easy.

Never thought I'd ever read where someone actually did this in this day and age.  I couldn't stand working with those back in the day. 
seriously though, those look great.  There's been a lot of cool things being done with the truck parts from Trainworx.  I've yet to dive into mix yet and order some parts.  I may want to retire someday.

A can of Pepsi and patience was what it took to mount wheels to the Dayton axles. Everyone now is wondering what the heck I'm talking about, but bman knows  Yes bman I feel your pain,  thank god for bud wheels    Those Trainworx trucks look fantastic, it's just a shame they sell out so rapidly

Nice monuments!  What type of Dremel bit do you use?

I used a couple of different ball cutting bits, and a cylindrical cutting bit.

I finished wiring the Powerton Junction module then "operated" on it for a while just switching cars in and out of the yard to make sure everything works correctly.
There are posts of brass wire at the end of the yard tracks so nothing can go overboard in case you were wondering.

Alas, not railroad related, but something I am rather proud of: I am no longer an engineering trainee on the steamship Virginia V.  Playing with real steam engines is fun!
