I got my 2 samples of my dual control stand cabs today from shapeways. I need to make a few tweaks to the design but all in all I'm very pleased with how they turned out and things fitted together like I designed them too.

More on the engineering thread but the LIRR IS has a completed mainline on the berm wall for its entire lenght as well as the LIRR IS interchange to the PRR main.  This come just in time for some outdoor photography with Mike McGrattan's memorial train.  Praying for a thunderstorm...

I've actually been working on the layout surprisingly. It's not much but this will be summit with a return loop and staging below. I will say that no matter how many renderings I've done to scale of the basement, summit takes upa TON of room! I'm fine with it though as its the centerpiece of the layout room for me at least. The helix will be just under 2% grade for the westbound trains coming out of staging. The temporary mock up of the helix pretty steep right now.

Changed the lettering on an MT UP baggage car into the Milwaukee Road version using ancient Walthers decals.  Old lettering removed with Solvaset  and a sharp #11 blade used extremely gently.  It took about a half hour per side.  Light weathering.  Lettering removal looks fine from three feet



Thursday I had a planned trip to the hospital to get my heart back in rhythm after being in A Fib 99% of the last year. Cardiologist stops the heart and then uses the electric paddles to restart in rhythm. CLEAR!  I can now run my trains without turning on the DCC system--just place my hand on the rails.

Actually, so far so good which is a good thing since I am a drummer and need my rhythm.

You may want to check the radius of the yellow curve from the sill to the top of the battery box/cab sub-base.
On the NP simplified scheme, it should be a much sharper radius curve, almost 90 degrees.

I cannot tell if this is HO or N scale.  I assume it's HO because of the 4 window cab and fineness of the handrails, but if not, great job and I'd be curious to know your method verses what I have planned.

Put some primer on the second of my ex-Cartier "Bigs".  This is a former Alco Demonstrator C-636, which I will model as SIXX 77.  Sadly she was scrapped in Cohocton on the B&H last year, along with the other surviving ex Demo unit.  Funny how a very light coloured primer shows up all imperfections.  Soon this will get  Cartier orange and black, after I try some more pre-shading effects.

Just a note about the prototype.  Cartier modified their C-636's with various filters and bodywork changes.  Apart from the central air intake differences, the real change was to the radiator.  Cartier used the same 4-core radiator on these as was found on the MLW built M-636's, rather than the 3-core used on the C-636, C-630 and M-630.  This required the water expansion tank to be shortened and accounted for the angle of the radiator walkway.

That's a wrap! put the finishing touches on my Pennsy H16-44's today. They've been detailed, painted, weathered, couplers installed, wheels cleaned, and decoders programmed. Glad to have them added to the roster.
