Athearn end of September announcements

I was on their website for an unrelated reason and noticed some new hoppers, then checked the announcements and found there were three items:

http://www.athearn.com/newsletter/093016/10_N-scale_ACF_2970_Centerflow_093016.pdf
http://www.athearn.com/newsletter/093016/12_N-scale_48ft_Husky%20Stack_093016.pdf
http://www.athearn.com/newsletter/093016/11_N-scale_Pfaudler_Milk_Car_093016.pdf

My how my interests have changed.  I'm probably more likely to go for some hoppers than the Husky-Stacks now.  However, those Husky Stack schemes, which are all prototypical, represent some nice choices.  (Sure looks like they intend to give MTL a run for their money.)

I really like the Pfaudler Milk Cars.  I haven't done any research on milk car operations on the UP at all, and I don't remember ever seeing any photos in any of my passenger reference books.  BUT, that said, if one or more of them could be prototypically integrated into my passenger operations, I'd sure go for several!

Cheerio!

Hey, that's awesome!  One of the WM "Primed for Grime" covered hoppers being offered by Athearn is a model of the very same hopper of which I posted a picture in last week's Thursday Photo Photo thread: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=40112.0

Good for you, Athearn!

Four different numbers in Bankruptcy Blue? Really? Could the Rock actually have afforded to paint four cars?

Primed for Grime or Ready for Rust is a great idea.

LOL

Interestingly, Athearn has already done this same series with UP numbers and patch outs.

No need for the WM reweighs, but those CSX patch outs might find a home  :D

I think Athearn realized I'm addicted to their 2 Bay Hoppers. They are the nicest on the market....

I've personally handled eight of the Rock's Thrall 4750s on my short line in the last 4 years. Of course, they bear leasor reporting marks, either AEX, MWXC, and one in AEQX. Most of them were grainers, but some were in fertilizer service. So yes!

That's pretty much all they spent their money (well the taxpayers money) on in the 1970's  :D
