I could live with a 33' car I suppose.   :D   The idea of using a MTL or Atlas car is not appropriate since the end is the tell of these cars, IMO.  NP had cars like the Atlas/MTL cars, though.

  Bluford Craig,
thanks for the explanation, but what is described are Side Sheets,
even if they are the 1st and last side panels.
was thinking of something more akin to a Buckeye End from the
  the way it was described.
some Dreadnought Ends were used from time to time on Open
Hoppers, maybe Stanray also supplied the sides ?

wipe the Drool off the floor SPFs,Pennsy didn't have this exact car.
they had a version of the H31 which was shorter and closer to the
specs of the USRA Twins, even though they didn't look it.
the WW-2 Composite version was the H31B,easy to mix up PRR
designations as an interested observer of the Standard RR.
can recall seeing a car or 2 of this type in Roanoke around 1980,
but cant recall which former road they were from ?
interesting seeing one of the C630s and a slug shoving around former
Virginian and NKP cars back then.
Edit- both groups of CB&Q cars were in Sugar Beet service into the 70s,
most or all never got steel side sheets.

The Bluford car looks pretty close to the PRR H31c. What are the differences with this car? Just wondering? Thanks @Spikre.

Ifin' I'm looking at th the Bluford pics right, it's car has an offset side, while the Pennsy car has no offset.

  Pennsy H31s were shorter,about 30' OL.
the Slope sheet has a different angle to it.
they used Pennsy trucks, not AAR trucks.
CUFT was about 1900,not near 2100 or so for a rebuilt AAR
  War Emergency car.
side ribs are heavier,Pennsy liked to over do things generally.
plus what has been said above.
its hard to tell from the photo, but some of the H31s had either Barber
S-2 Stabilers in the trucks,or Snub Up Stabilizers.this was an improvement
over earlier PRR V design trucks.

On the Wabash cars Bluford is doing in this run:

388 were on the (N&W) roster as of 1965.

Down to 194 in 1968.

17 in 1969, then 10 in 1970.

5 in 1973 then gone in 1974.

I'm guessing most were never painted N&W.

My CEI cars from the USRA run arrived yesterday, along with a Wabash panel hopper.  Nice work, thanks Bluford.  I hope the N scale hopper market is paying off, 'cause these are really fine cars, and I'd like to see more in the future.

And I hope the C&EI do well enough to justify doing other body styles in their lettering (pre-1956 if possible- but maybe that is just me).

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Being a C&EI fan myself.....What could possibly be next.    Hmmmm

My new Bluford hoppers arrived today: very nice!
A Mopac panel hopper (Arkansas coal for Kaiser Steel) a Pere Marquette  USRA original (Illinois coal for LA harbor) and a D&H panel hopper (just too pretty to pass up) :D
The shell castings and paint jobs/lettering are exquisite; the wheels seem a bit fatter than previous releases? Are these the FVM wides? See pics below.
I couldn't get the "pretty hopper" to stay on the rails until I discovered it had an innovative wheelset with a flange on the outside :? Wth?
Otherwise very satisfied with purchase...more variety in my sizeable fleet.

Putting the flange on the outside would work, if all of the wheels were that way, and turnouts were designed for it, but just one?  I don't  think I've ever seen that mistake...

Jason:  That looks like one of the rolling wrecks they sent to Pasco for beet service.  Many of them were still wood all the way up, but some were partly metal, like yours.
