No modeling yet, but while at East Tennessee State in Johnson City TN for some business today I was told about their model railroad exhibit.  Apparently they have been tasked with researching and preserving the history of the ET&WNC.  Part of the project is a large, highly accurate HOn3 model of the Tweetsie!  I only had a few minutes before they closed, but did manage to grab a few pic

After months of little time for modelling work, I managed to get my WNY&P M-636 ready for its Cartier paint job. Should be able to finish the painting in the next few days. just a couple of small defects to sort first.

I decided to add a little more competition for the railroad and built a second bus station.  I'm running out of room for buildings but think that it may wind up in the town that has been collecting buildings for a few years. Almost time to add streets and scenery except I keep moving things around.







This started life as a TomyTec Japanese movie theater kit.  It had a rough stucco which I removed.  The turret was rather misshapen so I laminated Evergreen sheet over it and built up a new cornice.  The movie auditorium roof is now supported by a center truss and can accommodate two buses.

Here's my first Downtown bus station which was scratch built.

Nice bus stations Roger. I have seen the scratchbuilt one before, but every time I see it I like it more and more!

It sat on my bench for nearly a year too after decaling but I am sure glad I was able to finish it.  Thanks for your efforts to get this kit available!

Now I need to weather it- they sure don't look so pretty and clean in 2016 

That would be my only complaint... It looks too good!
Belivable for BC Rail but definetly needs some grime for a post merger era

looks like a fun time Otto, that is one layout that is on my list to operate!!! getting ready for a session on my layout today, I have several newbies that have never operated before , so I brought in a couple extra regulars to run two man crews. So them a good time and make them in to regular operators!!!! Gordon

Gordon, lol, good luck with that! As you well know, it takes a real effort to "script and direct" the "plot" to run a railroad, especially with a large number of visiting operators. The guys here at GBG do a great job with that, we've had about a hundred people running six large layouts over three days. Today was another treat, running on Gary Petersen's nineties era Salt Lake Southern, see below. See, I can be "trained" to enjoy a more modern era
Driving home tomorrow...about 645 miles...but worth it.

Scott:  Do you know why the prototype has a ballasted deck approach to an open deck bridge?  I think the only ones I've seen built like that are on the Milwaukee, which loved concrete viaduct approaches.  Hard to make a solid concrete structure with an open deck.

Of course, I haven't looked at the bridges on very many railroads...

I'm not sure, but perhaps it is related to the era.  The bridge was built in 1914 so perhaps it was an engineering preference at the time?

Well, my modeling has stopped.  In the middle of a major life event.  Glad when it has passed.

But in the meantime, Mr. Ryoichi Fukushima of Japan, sent me some new photos of his Millennial Edition (as I am now calling it) stock Japanese EP-2.
He was excited to add number boards and builder's plates to his model.

Otto, sounds like quite the fun times. I've seen some shots of previous years on the Utah Colorado & Western webpage. Be warned, Northern Virginia has invaded that space now. Brian Brendel, former NVNTRAK President back when the first huge Ntrak layout was done in 1996 lives out there, and had Bernie Kempenski visiting to paint backdrops on a well timed visit.

Operated at Seusscaboose's layout last night and had a blast. Operated three trains before some "posing" of some Rock power. Lee might recognize the grade. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
