Met Randy Gustafson and was quite dazzled with his Climax Loco and purchased a 3 pack kit of his V&T ore cars.  I think I'll be trying one of the Climax kits to see if I can figure out a narrow gauge version.  Randy's a very experienced guy and quite willing to share his knowledge.  Thanks Randy.

I'll echo the respect - I have one of the first RandGust CF-7 kits (For the ten new Bachmann GP7).  It's a real beauty and on the short list of projects to finish once I get everything unboxed form the move.

I go back and forth on getting the CF7 kit(s) to do the YorkRail versions.  I just found out they will be sold/scrapped in coming months.  The recent video I posted in Thursday Prototype thread caught one of the units that will be replacing one of them, a chop nose GP10 from the South Carolina Central

Love it!  So many critters, so little time.   Now I HAVE to make a narrow gauge Climax. 

Got some of the hardest mechanical parts done for my final mine loco prototypes and they will be part of the kit bag I can draw from for many power truck variations.  Those parts include gears, wheels (24", 26" and 33" N or 24" and 33" Nn3), primary drive and flywheels, all of which should apply nicely to a chassis for these projects.  That was on my list anyway, standard power trucks for various applications like trolleys but this just got moved up.  Ordered a kit today!

I showed Randy some of those power truck machined pieces at Altoona.  They do exist!   I haven't been talking much about that project because it has taken longer than I would have liked and I really don't want to show it until I have some running units of the final design.  At least the power truck part.  Because of machine access and delays I have finally done what I vowed when I sold my business that I wouldn't be doing ever again and that's setting up some minimal manual machining capability at home so I can progress with at least some the prototype stuff.  I probably needed to do this anyway once things are ready to sell so I can do minor customization without making a project out of it.  Oh well.  And then there's the month long vacations that get in the way.  Like again in a few weeks.

Thanks guys.   Saw a lot of amazing stuff but the biggest game-changer will be narrowmindeds gears and wheels.   I can hardly wait to get my hands on a set. 

I got pretty well cleaned out of kits.  Will resume molding in Mid-October.

One day I shall set my sights on a set of MA&PA CF-7s, but it's not for a long while.

Saw a lot of amazing stuff but the biggest game-changer will be narrowmindeds gears and wheels.   I can hardly wait to get my hands on a set. 

Even though I wasn't getting to selling yet, let me know what you need or just want.  I'll have the 24" and 33" in dished centers, dished and four hole drilled centers, for N or Nn3 (Z), all to RP-25 standard, as well as wide tread Z wheels, made to N tread width. Then there's the N scale 26" with 7" hex center for the PCC trolley.  Also have 2mm diameter muffs left over from the first prototypes so you might be able to put together the pilot trucks I've heard you mention.  And because pilot trucks are so small and light, prone to derailing, maybe a set of the tungsten wheels would be just what the doctor ordered.  Twice the weight of brass or nickel silver.  The tungsten might take a while because they were run just enough for drive wheel prototype oxide testing, not really planning the pilot truck/ weight thing.  That might be a product to itself even if the oxide and cost prove too much for power trucks.  I only have about eight of them but could probably get a set of any of the nickel silver ones together as I ran a few hundred of those.  Those will be standard wheels for me.
