Stopped by to see the in-law's earlier this week. They live in Bassett, Virginia. Caught a couple of northbound NS empty unit trains including one with their H70 hopper which bares resemblance to Ortner. Anyway, here is a semi-blurry shot of a long abandoned lead. The property is now home to a hardware store and long since cut off from the main. Bassett used to be home to Bassett Furniture's main production facilities. It's now a shell of its once fine glory with absolutely no rail service. All of the switches and leads are removed.

These ran a block from the kids new school in Bay St. Louis, MS. Carpool may be way more fun!

A few pictures I took while I'm visiting in Chicago. The CN shots were in Homewood, IL.  I would've taken more but my phone died.  I do recommend riding the METRA Electric Line because I did encounter a manifest freight being built up in Homewood along with another manifest entering the yard.  I also caught a CN stack train, a South Shore manifest, light power moves, and a few METRA/South Shore electric trains while riding this afternoon.

Thanks,
Adam

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.
When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
 I wrote ‘happy’.
They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
