I just bought myself one of these:

That's right!  A Bachmann On30 East Tennessee & Western North Carolina R.R. (ET&WNC) ten wheeler.  Like what happened to @Dave Vollmer a few years ago, the narrow gauge bug has bitten me again after about twenty years since I last dabbled with slim gauge in HOn3 and G.  The track planning begins tonight, after I finish poring over my twenty-five year-old copy of "Tweetsie Country" by Mallory Hope Ferrell.

Rainy day here so I broke out the floor layout. In the downtime between working on real railroads, it's good to not fall out of practice switching...

if you can't conduct yourself, conduct freight

Sad to see the Mars light gone, it was special and defined the "face" of this loco. Anybody know why it's gone?

Painted the resin On30 hoppers from last week.

Sprayed them with Rustoleum camo tan then 2 AI washes and a wash of burnt umber.

Little 2x4' On30 layout to run them on.

Will put a small coal tipple where the photo is...

I grew up near Asheville and explored this region of NC often!  I have always had an interest in this little railroad.  A while back I found this little gem, a short film from 1949 on the ET&WNC in color!

I've always like it too...neat film! Well, it looks like you don't have to worry about ballast in 1949...just grass!  :)

Haha!  I literally just watched that video for the first time last night.  Cool to see the ET in color, and the dubbed sound is from the same locomotive recorded on Tweetsie railroad.

Thanks,

The only complaint about that film is it is too short

Why?

Managed to get some paint on a caboose I've been scratch building.
