..... oh man.....

I think I need a cigarette.

Do it again.

But not till after you detail the road a bit more... guard rails, warning signs...  You know the drill.

They're currently sitting on my workbench waiting for the next time I unbox the modules.

Ricky and Julian vote "yes" for the addition of the trailers...
Bubbles on the other hand, prefers the shed so he can be with his kitties.

If there's not time to do it right the first time, there's always time to do it over.

I damaged the modules in transit over the past few months and I needed to make a repair. The track plate on the left side of the module was peeling up after getting whacked so I peeled it up to get it reattached properly.

One of the things that always bugged me was that the tracks weren't really level. I hadn't realized it when I was building it but it shows up in photos so I figured it was time to fix that too.

Now that means I needed to pull the bridge out too and re-level it as well.

And, of course there's a show that I want to use it in this weekend.

Am I gonna make it? We'll see... but sitting here typing about it instead of actually working on it probably isn't gonna help.

Oh, man!  I hope you make it.  Otherwise, you might lose the shop!

You're gonna need a bigger flat car to haul that level, probably center depressed for vertical clearance.

Are you planning to add a dusting of snow to make it look even colder?

Haha. Lol.

No snow this time. I've thought about doing a little on some project, but I don't think this one.

Since I'm new to this T-Trak thing, any transport tips? One of the draws for me is that T-Trak modules are small enough that I can take a project with me when we make the 9 hour drive to visit the in-laws.

Oh yeah. Build a nice solid enclosure that has handles and that bolts into it. Then actually properly bolt it in.

The one big thing you'll find is a challenge is the track overhang. The best way I've seen that solved is by building the enclosure tight against the frame on the front and back of the module and then leaving a gap in the side.

For these modules, I did something else: I created two ends that bolt onto the ends of the module using spacers to get them away from the actual frame. When packing up I get the two modules to 69 and then just bolt them on.

This damage happened because, on one of my most recent outings with them, I didn't tighten them down tight enough so the whole thing  flexed and the ends whacked the track.

Ok, fixed it.

But I was worried about the scar. For now I just hit it with some raw umber to get through the next show. Then I'll figure out redoing the whole embankment.

JFRTM is back on!
