As per my previous post, the train is now back in Vancouver where its journey began, for visits to three final layouts including Greg Kennelly, Gary Hinshaw and Mark Dance.

According to the Facebooks, it was a year ago today that we learned of Puddy's passing.  I propose a toast, to the safe travels of our memorial train, and to our departed member, mentor, and friend.  Here's to you, Mike.  Cheers!

+1.  Nothing can replace Pud's contributions to this community of ours (to say nothing of his family) but this memorial has been a great way to keep Mike in our thoughts.

Mike's involvement with RCAF veterans gave us something else to bond over.  So, as we say in the USAF of our fallen brother Airmen, "Here's a toast..."

Gary, Greg and I did exactly that over dinner last evening prior to the train's tour of Tehachapi, B.C.

Have the articles started appearing in N Scale yet?  None of my locals carry it, and I let me subscription lapse...  I'd like to seek it out if it's available.

Yes, I recall at least last couple of issues had the articles in them.

This is infuriating.  I do not have time to download pictures or find them on my computer and fix all of the broken links.  I am particualarly gutted at hte damage to our MMT thread, which I was about to print and hand over to Sam.

Looks like my Railwire days are over. . . .

Tim

@BCR 570,

I, for one, would hate to see you go, but I sympathize with the destruction wrought to the M3T thread, thanks to Photobucket.  If it helps at all, I will repair the broken links in my post(s) on the M3T Photo Thread.  It may not happen today, but I will do my best to do so as soon as possible.  I sincerely hope that the rest of TRW members will do the same, to make right what has gone wrong and to allow you to still give a copy of the thread to Sam.

Thanks,
DFF

Second this.

Edit: Mine are fixed.  I even went back and altered history a bit, seeing as that's my thing  :D

A few updates for those who have contributed to and participated in this venture:

Firstly, I have chatted with Gary Hinshaw during the last few days and he has kindly offered to help me fix my contributions to the Photo Thread.  It will take some time but hopefully we can eventually get most of it rebuilt, and then archived.  I will know more in a few weeks.

Secondly, the McGrattan Memorial Train has recently paid a return visit to Angus Shops for some paint touch-ups prior to its final trip east.  Thank you to Geoff Gooderham for this.  I will be running it on my layout tomorrow for a final inspection prior to delivery.

Thirdly, I will be travelling to Ontario on Sunday, and am scheduled to visit with Margaret and Sam McGrattan on Wednesday of next week.  Mike's mother has also been invited, and possibly some folks from Rapido Trains.  I will be presenting the train to Sam, the Book of Condolences, and copies of N-Scale Magazine featuring the first four articles.  I hope to get some pictures of the train on the Kanto Subdivision before I leave.  I will take with me all the best wishes from our Railwire community, and will report back to you upon my return home.
