Not sure if Sam planned to come to the US for college, but that's a long way off...and I confess to know nothing about how higher education works in Canada.  Neither was it clear to me whether it was $15K US or $15K Canadian.

Either way, though, I'm glad I could help in some very small way.  None of this comes close, though, to making up for not having Mike around for the rest of his childhood.

True, I don't know anything about the cost of education in Canada. I was recently participating in a discussion of how out-of-whack the cost of education is in US (one of my co-workers' son is college-age) and my comment was based on that.  And $15,000 (US or Canadian) is better than a poke in the eye.  :)

Mine arrived in the mailbox a couple hours ago.  Nice car, good cause.

True, I don't know anything about the cost of education in Canada.

It really depends what province you live in. In Quebec for example, you can go to university for under 1500 CAD per semester, while in Ontario it is significantly more. Generally speaking though, education in Canada is much less than what you guys would pay south of the border.
Because why not...

Still waiting for mine.
$15,000 is nice but in USA, depending on the college, that won't even cover a one year's worth of tuition. Cost of education in US is so totally out of whack!

That's $15,000 they don't have to come up with.  That's $15,000 that can go into an interest baring account.  Compound the interest, that's pretty nice little nugget to help get him started.

I feel good buying one of these cars (and it's pretty), and I'd hope people would do the same if the situation was reversed.  That's really all that matters.

Given that amount of money a RESP could earn a grant of up to 500$ per year. by the time he is ready for school it can be quite the nest egg... especially assuming the rest of the gondolas sell and the money is added to the total...

an amazing gesture, thanks Jason...

I wasn't implying that what Rapido did is not good.  I think it is a great gesture from Rapido. I bought a set of these cars too, supporting the cause.
I simply posted my thoughts about the ridiculously high price of higher education in the US (since that was fresh on my mind from a recent discussion I had with a friend).

Mine showed up about noon Friday.  I was a little surprised by the box, as my last order from Canada, several years ago, from Vancouver, was actually mailed from the US.  This one crossed the border and still only took 4 days.  Good job by both postal services.

And, yes, it is a nice looking car.  I'm going to have to reweigh mine, though, as the "NEW 10-43" would violate interchange rules in 1974.

Still waiting for my gons.

I can speak from first-hand experience about education costs on both sides of the border.  Most major universities in Canada are publicly funded and very reasonable: UBC is ~$4400 CDN per year, and that is pretty representative.  So $15K will go a long way if he stays up here.

Both Canada's education and health systems are cheap compared to the US.

Geez, at one of the colleges we just visited with my daughter that $4400 with conversion would barely cover books and campus health insurance for a year. :scared:

Mine probably showed up on Thursday or Friday. Finally went out to the mailbox to check and there it was. I'm really happy to have been able to help. The car is just gravy.

Now to determine a suitable load, which could probably spawn a whole new thread here! :D
