Just for giggles I decided to break out my Mitutoyo Digital Micrometer (accurate to .0001").  I don't use it much since I stopped designing and prototyping weapons mountable night vision devices and surveillance gear.

Here are the results:

Atlas C55 flex rail is-                   0.0268" across the railhead, 0.0558" tall, and 0.0527" across the railfoot

ME C55 weathered flex rail is-      0.0261" across the railhead, 0.0563" tall, and 0.0534" across the railfoot (with none of the "weathering" removed)

Railcraft C55 shiny new rail is-     0.0264" across the railhead, 0.0548" tall, and 0.0540" across the railfoot

I didn't save my Proto87 Stores C55 snippings from my 3-way planed closure points, and I couldn't get my Mitutoyo Micrometer into my built turnouts to get any measurements.

...Just sayin'...  :D

Cheerio!

I'm glad you did it, otherwise I would have had to... (which people would down vote since I am not a likable person here I guess... )

Maybe.  I'll go remeasure, but mine came in at .056".

Jason

Maybe time to calibrate your measuring device?  It would explain a lot about your Code 43 rail too.   :)

Yeah, because Gary and I actually share the same caliper and just ship it back and forth to each other.  I just didn't want to tell anyone.

I was measuring between the ties because I don't like to measure by any cuts.  I pulled the rail out one end and I do get an average of .054".

Sorry Mike, .043" rail lives on.
