Doing some light book scanning what I see is that there were 3 and 4 car sets.  The 3 cars sets like the Texas Rocket had an articulated dinette-coach and lounge coach observation.  The four car sets had the same articulated set plus a smaller coach and the observation was just a lounge.

I much prefer the four car set.  Maybe one will lead to the other with enough interest.  Regardless, I'm in if they do the Rocket lettering.  If they do the Zephyr lettering first, I'll wait.

I think I may put my vote up for sale on eBay and hope for rich Rock Island fans in both camps.

I have to plead ignorance here.  Assuming they are going to produce a trainset (as opposed to using 3-5 of their old CB&Q Budd cars), what cars would be in it, and when was it painted for both roads?

This sort of thing drives me nuts- if it is an accurate model, I will want one, but I really don't need it.  I managed to not buy a Zephyr from Con-Cor, or a CZ from Kato, or a Hiawatha from Fox Valley (that last was really hard to pass up).

Now, if they do a 1937 Super Chief, that I probably could not pass by.

For what it's worth, the Rocket wasn't lettered up for the Rock Island and the Burlington, it was lettered for the Burlington Rock Island, a line jointly owned by both roads.

I like that Kato continues to focus on specific passenger trains, I just wish it would do something more mainstream.  Like a late Hiawatha, Empire Builder, and North Coast Limited.

This. Or the Transcon, in Greyhound colors. They already have a good start on it...

Wow , look at that air space behind the pilot of that E-6 ! I really like the vote option Kato is extending . So Kato is not so much western roads only , but has all the streamliners they've been Chicago specific ?

I  must agree there.  The TA is a unique prototype, thus I am glad to see it, even if it is unlikely that I will buy one.   To the surprise of many, it appears that road specific equipment does sell.   We have seen this in steam, as well as a few diseasels (BLI Centipede, for one).  Perhaps, if indeed Kato is doing Chicago specific trains, we will see an EA and some HWs rebuilt to smooth sides.
