I've seen people painting 55 gallon drums black with either red or yellow center sections. Is that prototypical for the early '50s and what does it signify?

Hmm... I paint all my
55 gallon drums orange...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
