Out of the paint shop.  A little touch up work and weathering yet to do.

I added a few cars to my HO fleet (well, my son's fleet).   Weathered them up since that seems to be a common thing to do for me lately.  The CSX car is done from prototype pictures I found.  CNW and IC cars were just dirty them up til they look feasible.  Couldn't find a CNW car that matched this one, in yellow paint anyway.  And the IC car is off a couple thousand in the number series.

I just melted a hole in the shell of a Bachmann (made in Hong-Kong) Docksider that I was working on adding DCC and lights to. And I killed at least 5 pre-wired warm-white 0402s in the process of trying to get the lights glued in the housings.

I don't think anybody else will be able to top this smoky weekend event!  :)

Five LEDs?  But the Docksider only has 2 headlights, no?

Richie, very observant of 5 big cabooses. I see 3 RR ones, the bride, and one of the bridesmaids?

Thanks Otto!  The trucks are Bachmann old time passenger trucks.  Pretty close but not exact.  I would like to get the Shapeways models but I don't need a bunch of them.  The guy making them says he'll send single pairs painted with wheels but I have not been able to contact him.

I replaced them as they got killed. One dead one is still in the shell. The four others are in the trash somewhere. Even with the tip of my iron tinned, it takes forever for things to solder; and I'm using a good 40W iron and good rosin core solder (I got both for free from my uncle awhile back, who had had them since who knows when).

But I did successfully install a TCS Z2 and an LED headlight in a Key Imports PRR I1sa (2-10-0), and I put a CN-GP in an Atlas GP-9.

Neither of which are mine. And of the two only the I1sa is netting me any reasonable compensation for my labor

Maintenance time here in East Tennessee, changed out the tender and installed an ESU LokSound on a heavy mountain, corrected a quartering problem on a 2-8-0,  and cleaned track. Not exciting but necessary and besides it's raining too hard to go trout fishing.
Modeling Southern and N&W in the southeast.

It's time to paint the water tower I have been working on. Problem is, I'm not sure what color to go with. It's going in what would be an active yard, it's not new but certainly not decrepit.
