Lots of discussion in the Amtrak rider forums about this. Concerns from many folks about allergies, poop/pee, and the "Oh, my Fluffy/Fido wouldn't hurt anyone" pollyannas.

There's a 20-pound limit (pet and carrier), so it's not like we're going to see pit bulls, rottweilers and other large, potentially dangerous breeds. OTOH, in many years in dog rescue and other humane volunteering, the only times I've been bitten have been by the small, yappy ones. The big ones just want to lift their leg on my ankle.

I'm offended. Taking D with me would be MUCH safer for all involved than all 10 lbs (when wet) of his nemesis, Ozzie, who lives around the corner from us.

I agree, Ed. I'd rather have my German Shepherd with me any day. She can be an intimidating sweetheart. Just the look of a GSD is a built in deterrent for potential bad guys.

Exactly. They don't need to know that the way he's actually going to eat their face is with smooches.

What, like a unconcealed sidearm?  Maybe I should carry my runt-of-a-Maine Coon around in a holster, he scares everyone by his naturally surly disposition.

They still won't allow orangutans?  Or would Dee count as "people" if she has a ticket?
