Haven't seen this mentioned yet.....Our shop just received a full compliment of Shays in all road names. This should make quite a few people happy.

Having dissected every part of a Shay in the past, what I really really want to know is what changes Atlas made to this run.

Me three, I want another, so I can, with a clear conscious, use the one I have now to make a 3 truck.

In honor of having Shay's available to replace mine should I fail, I dug out my second run shay and put a decoder in it last night. Honestly not as hard as I thought it would be but not a cake walk either. A Digitrax DZ126T is the perfect size to fit in the cavity on the side of the fuel bunker behind the cab. The hardest part was getting the headlights LED's to go back in position when placing the boiler back on the mechanism.

Several years ago I installed a DZ125 decoder in the initial run of these. https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=37764

The DZ126T makes the install 100 percent easier.  It is appropriately half the width of the previous decoder and fits standing up on its edge to the side of the worm. I used existing LED's and the standard decoder wiring athough I came close to running magnet wire for the front LED but did not need it.

That does sound much easier.

Funny, I mentioned all the changes about a month ago already in another Shay thread, and here we are just repeating that info. https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=34136.msg457443#msg457443  We all must be getting forgetful...  :D
