Just a heads-up that the second release of the Atlas S2 has started shipping to dealers. I got a notice today on a New Haven unit.

I noticed the Atlas page -> http://www.atlasrr.com/ordership.htm  had a partial shipment on Jan 5th.  Seems every shipment of the S2's have been "partials".  I still have 2 undecs on order at BLW from the first run that BLW was shorted on.  I hope Pete got enough this time to cover as his page has shown "sold out" on the undecs on both runs for quite some time.

I just looked at the ad.  Those NH units sure are pretty looking!

Pete hasn't tapped my bank account for my C&NW unit yet, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled. It would be perfect timing to get it soon. Just finished Phase I trackwork, and everything is running like clockwork. I was watching a GP9 crawl through the yard last night, and thought "Man, this would be even more fun with that S2!"

I bought a B&M to repaint in WM, but at the rate work is taking my time I could hedge my bets Atlas will release two in speedscript.

I'm sure eventually Atlas will release the S2 in every paint scheme.  That's one of the plus aspects of doing this particular model - there are enough paints schemes for Class I's shortlines, switching lines, industrial, etc. that Atlas could release a half-dozen new schemes twice a year for the next 10 years.  Talk about amortizing your development costs!

I'll wait patiently for the NKP to show up . . .

Same here. I have all three non-sound numbers on order, but actually wouldn't mind waiting another couple of months due to some big layout (and other, surprise) expenses the past couple of weeks. :whimper:

I'd love some Santa Fe Zebras....like the first pic.
But meanwhile I have a couple of undecs on order (forever) to do the early sill only version only, like the second pic. Maybe this time I'll be lucky....

So did any Atlas S2's actually arrive in your hands?  any sound? Or was there a lot of "Partial shippments"?

According to the Atlas page, both the Shays and the S2s were shipped the same day, January 5th.  As of yet, only the Shays are showing at BLW. Neither has shown up at MBK.  Walthers shows various statuses from "Unknown"* to "In Transit".  This recent storm probably has delayed things somewhat.

* Unknown is a whole other can of worms.  See Con-Cor's beef with Walthers. -->http://www.con-cor.com/website/walthers-dropped-the-ball/

It was a very short shipment on the S2s apparently.  Mine is silver-series (no sound).  I don't think any sound units were delivered.  Spring for the remainder of the batch.
