Not much modelling for me over the holidays. I decided the two dash 8s would look better idling away with the number boards lit so I carved those out.

I also discovered that the one on the left has a nice twist in the shell. She may wind up a shelf queen, or at most a mid train helper. I'll have to see how that looks when mounted.

Lots of work on the Kanto sub. Found out the kid can plaster quite well.... found out there is almost always a solution if you just ask an A@@hat at the Railwire....

The City's coming along nicely....

and this little problem.....

resulted in this solution.....

Lots more images and prose in the Kanto Layout report.....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

New Year's tradition - setting up the Modutrak layout, running trains, eating good food, watching hockey, and spending time with good friends.

Don't give up on that shell on the left, Craig!  You would be surprised at what a hair dryer on LOW heat and just a LITTLE anti-twist force will do.

Got some Youngstown plug doors back from Shapeways, so I can inch closer to having an accurate New Haven plug door 50' PS-1 utilizing the Athearn plug door model. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Finally had a little time to work on these Wheels of Time Allis-Chalmers crawlers.  A buddy of mine had diagrams of how these monsters were loaded onto flats, and I've tried to replicate that here.  I ran out of flats to do the other 4, but I picked up some on ebay today.

I wasn't happy with the roof line height on the Castlegar Station model so spent my hobby time this week building a taller one and shingling it.  Although I am only slightly ahead of where I ended up last week, now when comparing to proto photos, I am much happier.  Roof segments still need to be glued down, painted and ridge coverings added.

Best Wishes for 2016 to everyone at TRW!

I added a Pepsi machine to the porch (Railway Express Miniatures product)...I still have to add a drop mailbox and trash receptacle. I'm also going to add a storage shed behind the Store...along with plenty of details/clutter.
