Nope, still not there.  And "View Page Source" returns a very long URL, that, when opened, gives ANOTHER page of HTML code, not an image.

I THINK what's happening is what happened to me a couple months ago.

When photobucket and flikr told me I'd used up my allotted space I started keeping photos at google +.  All went well for a couple years until I had exactly the same problem Pete's got now.  For whatever reason, google has started using extremely long URLS which simply don't work with today's browsers.

I note that "googleuser" is part of the URL, which is why I think it's the same problem.

Simple enough to use a different photo hosting site; both photobucket and flikr have broadened their space limits, and work well for me.  Pity.  Just when I was getting used to google +.

Me too .. my first carrier air wing, CVW8 on Nimitz was just introducing the F14As in the late 70s,  and thats what I remember

The problem is very simple - if you look at the URL Pete posted above it doesn't end with a .jpg, or .png, or dot anything for that matter.  Because of that the forum software doesn't know what to do with it.  How to solve this - I don't know. I don't use Google for image storage.

I'm so dang glad we have all these kerosene burners in our modern military arsenal. In fact, I think they're wonderful when they're dispensing heeps of kaboom on the enemy. I just don't care to have them out there on the airshow circuit. Nothing more distracting that a formation of F-18 Hornets passing overhead, at tree top level, when I'm sitting at my campsite sipping a Lardo cocktail. Them things make a lotta noise.

Served on the Ike 1979 - 1981... an awesome part of my life, working the flight deck launching Tom Cats off the bow at night in after-burner.  No better memory to have even though it is so many years in the past.  Thanks for sharing that aircraft carrier shot... actually helped launch many of the planes shown.
