yes, but what a pain cutting and soldering all those up especially if I tried to offer those as kits! then the k supports and insulators!  we need star trek replicators!

The Pennsy had them every 300' on straight mainline and closer on curves.

Then there is mounting them to allow them to be removable, maybe the base has a rare earth magnet underneath.  ughh

Yes, some Star Trek technology would be very useful here. 

But you might be overthinking the mounting. Since there won't be much upwards pressure exerted on these, they could simply plug into some square brass tubing sockets epoxied into the layout.  No need for magnets.

Cutting is probably the least of the problem. Dremel with a cutoff wheels would do the trick. Then I would create a soldering jig to be able to assemble and solder all the components.

Would this be something better in white metal - if so, this is something that N Scale Kits could do. The F30a and F30d, and now the F39 have sold well - would the FM be useful to folks?

I've top men heading up the R&D work on Camden & Amboy Models' FM project.
However, the previously announced release date will unfortunately have to be pushed back to late in the 4th quarter 2016.

In the meantime C&A is pursuing other options for a product that can be released on the date which the FM was set to be released on.
The most promising project that we have found is another piece of PRR rolling stock which should not only fill a void, but open up potential for those who model in commonly overlooked eras of the early/mid 20th century.

Here's an idea to consider...
Why not come up with a partial shell (mainly just the end) that can be used to make the Bachmann doodlebug into a more PRR-looking one. A short partial shell piece to be used on the one end in place of part of the original Bachmann shell that would be cut away to make room for the new conversion piece.

I'm in the process of resorting and taking inventory on a bunch of "factory seconds" of original 1990s products, but we have no new-manufactured products available at the moment.

Of course, we are always open to suggestions.
